Banks and tow trucks

Well I now know Gordon at theAA.com after a second encounter. The second time I called the bank and asked for some AA assistance. This time I ditched the bike and someone let me hitch a lift 20 miles down the road.

What a day out. A bit of jiu jitsu then hopped on to get home but nothing. Interestingly, this isn't the first time lady luck has ditched me. Too busy with her online blog about how hard it is being lucky. This time Fortune favoured me and I got home back in time for the kids party in the local hall and I avoided the shouting of an angry mum.

But it was the solenoid again, alas I haven't had the chance to change it and I took a risk. It took another clean and a tap and off I went again. Roadside fix and done. Although that's not why I wrote this article. I ordered the part a long while ago and it took ages to arrive. I bought it on amazon.com through their export shop. It came from the US and I was relieved to find it. There seemed to be a finite and limited amount, I messaged a couple of ebay shops and they didn't stock the part so I was grateful that I could find it.

However, my naiveity led me to assume that the part was made in the USA and that it was a result of American manufacturing. It was not the case. So disappointing. I opened the package and the sticker clearly said made in China. Really? Is absolutely everything made in Asia? It is so strange to think that pieces of copper travelled the globe. China to the USA to England. That's a lot of fuel to ship a part. I mean impressive that there is a system in place and that logistics are so abundant but its a long way nonetheless.
