Not every country celebrates Christmas and even when they do, we all do it in a slightly different way.  In my opinion documentary photography isn't about the photoshop world of effects and fakery.  It is about the detail of everyday day life.  Those days add up to be our lives and those small things form the fabric of our memories.

 

Remember getting the box from that storage place somewhere in the house and looking at those decorations of a man in a red suit?  Did everyone have a turn at decorating the tree?   What about the tree, why do we do that and why do we need that idea of tradition?

 

The birth of Christ, the myth of Santa and the practice of putting up stockings.  These photos are a glimpse of my documentary style and a chance to look at the interior of a home in  Wiltshire, England during the Christmas period.
